Minister of Local Government and Rural Development hon. Gift Sialubalo has ranked Nyimba Town Council as the best performing district in Eastern Province in the utilization of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The Hon. Minister was in Eastern Province to appreciate the utilization of CDF and Cash for Work Funds in various constituencies.

Hon. Sialubalo has applauded Nyimba Town Council management for prudently using CDF by ensuring that the projects that are being constructed are of good quality.

“I must say I’m impressed with how Nyimba Town Council Secretary and his team have utilized CDF by ensuring that projects are of good quality because quality works is what matters,” said hon. Sialubalo.

The Minister further urged management to prioritize local contractors when awarding contracts of various projects in the district.

Hon. Sialubalo was speaking when he toured various CDF projects in Nyimba district.

Meanwhile, Nyimba Town Council Chairperson Mr. Gadson Tembo has thanked government for the continuous increase of the CDF since the New Dawn Government took office.

Mr. Tembo added that it was humbling as a district to host the minister of all the 116 Local Authorities in the Country and appreciate the prudent utilization of CDF in Nyimba district.

On the other hand, Nyimba District Commissioner, Mr. Paul Daka has appealed to government to consider the timely disbursement of CDF to Local Authorities in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the Nyimba Area Member of Parliament Hon. Menyani Zulu who was represented by his Professional Assistant Ms. Elinah Maponda revealed that the Area MP was happy with the quality works demonstrated by the Local Contractors.

Nyimba Town Council has noted with happiness the rate at which contractors are moving despite possessing the various sites in June, 2025 and most of the projects are at 70% work done.

The Local Authority remains committed to ensuring that it provides quality service to the people of Nyimba district.
