CDF is short for Constituency Development Fund. Through an Act of Parliament, the Government of Zambia was introduced into the CDF Act. The Constituency Development Fund was first established in Zambia in 1995 to fund micro-community development projects. The Act that guides the management and implementation of CDF has undergone several amendments over the years, the new and expanded scope of the CDF now looks at various others among others; Secondary School Boarding Bursaries, Youth and Women Empowerment grants, Loans and Community Projects.
WDC is short for Ward Development Committee. These committees are the grass root link between the communities and the Local Authorities, they are formed in each ward through an electoral process in which residents of each particular ward select representatives among themselves to pick community leaders who will represent them in the handling of the affairs of community development. The WDC is a nonpartisan committee with the sole purpose of steering the developmental agenda at the grassroots and closer to the community. Members are elected into office through an elective process overseen by the Local Authority. Details of eligibility and functions are listed here.
Application for any category is made through the WDC where you reside. Application forms can be obtained either via the Local Authority website, offices or in the various WDCs in your wards.
